CM-Oct-61-6 Tips To Being Happier At Work

To celebrate International Day of Happiness, we’re offering up our 6 top tips for being your happiest, most productive self throughout the entire workday. Give them a go!

  1. Give yourself a healthy work-life balance: Recharging your mind and your body is vital to productivity and passion for what you do. Whether it’s at the weekend, before or after work, give yourself time to relax and have fun. All work and no play is a recipe for disaster and grumpiness.  If you’re daring enough, turning your phone off for even an hour can be very beneficial.
  2. It’s all about teamwork: Your colleagues are the people you spend the most time with, you should at least try to get on with them! Organise a team bonding evening or carve out time every week to catch up together over coffee. A good mood is infectious, the happier your colleagues are, the happier you will be.
  3. Set yourself career goals: We’re all guilty of getting caught up in ‘office life’ and becoming complacent. Set yourself weekly, monthly and even yearly career goals and be sure to celebrate them once achieved!
  4. Ask for constructive feedback: Growth is all about knowledge. Is there something you could improve on? Perhaps you could have done that last presentation differently? Be sure to speak up and ask for feedback from your friends, colleagues, mentors – anyone who you trust. It’s a good way to get yourself noticed in the office too.
  5. Get moving: We’re not all morning people or gym fanatics, so exercise can seem a chore to some. But, keeping your body active throughout the day stimulates the brain and increases creativity. Take 15 minutes out of your day and go for a walk around the block and take the stairs where possible. You will honestly feel a positive lift in the way you behave afterward.
  6. Join a coworking space: Yes, it was all leading to this – you caught us! But, did you know that 89% of people reported feeling happier in a coworking space? Yeah, really. If you’re looking for a base in central London, visit labs.com to check out your options!
