LABS is pleased to announce its collaboration with Camden Council to provide fully-funded workspace to Camden business owners.
Over the next three years we’re aiming to support Camden’s emerging entrepreneurs with access to our facilities and networking opportunities.
Discussing the collaboration Councillor Danny Beales, Cabinet Member for Investing in Communities, Culture and an Inclusive Economy, said: “Against the backdrop of the economic impact of Covid-19, this partnership will better enable underrepresented business owners in the borough to access opportunities they need to progress their businesses.
“This speaks to the heart of the council’s mission to make Camden the best place in London to do business, with the infrastructure that businesses need to grow.
“We know access to co-working space can have a catalytic impact on businesses. Co-working space can accelerate business growth through providing space for business owners to network with others in various industries, space to think and scale, and access to latest information and opportunities to underpin development.
“Camden business owners are renowned for their creativity, dynamism and entrepreneurial spirit, and the partnership with LABS will support business owners to channel their energy within the context of steady progress to a more robust local economy.”
Dotan Weiner, Chief Operating Officer at LABS, added: “We are delighted to partner with Camden Council to provide valuable resources for talented young entrepreneurs in the local community. By working closely with our occupiers and members, we’ve learned that building a reliable network remains one of the greatest challenges of entrepreneurship.
“It’s essential that young people have access to guidance, knowledge and resources that can support them. By promoting mentoring opportunities to our members for the entrepreneurs and providing space to meet, work and collaborate at LABS, we hope to facilitate growth and development at a critical time for these young businesses as we continue to navigate the COVID-19 pandemic.”
One of the first entrepreneurs to selected for the initiative, Nanouche Umeadi, Founder of Diverse Inclusive Solutions, said: “I decided to set up a Race and Diversity Consultancy business after the eruption of Black Lives Matter protests. I felt I had to do something about it to educate our community. This business was my response, with my target audience being schools, pupils and parents.
“The opportunity to work in the LABS space and take advantage of everything that is being offered is huge for my business. I’m a starter business just starting out, finding my feet, with very little money. So to be given the space and support to work in LABS will be very beneficial for my business.
“My ambition for the future is to work for more schools up and down the country and also get into other institutions like law and politics.”
