Describe your job in one sentence…

Head of Video at Unscriptd. In short, I direct and edit videos for athletes, mostly for social media.

Describe yourself in one sentence…

Calm and confident.

How do you define success?

When you finally finish a piece of work, if you can’t stop playing it back and showing it to people, you know you’ve made something you’re really proud of. I think if you make work you’re proud of then often success is a by-product of that.

What’s the most interesting thing about you that we wouldn’t learn from your CV alone?

I used to play in bands and have appeared in music videos and televised performances. I’m also still receiving royalty checks for a track I wrote appearing in Home and Away!

Tell us about a project or accomplishment that you consider to be the most significant in your career so far.

Directing a fashion film in Tenerife at an old job; it was great to work with a big crew on location. It’s a beautiful island too, I had no idea just how diverse the Northern part of the island is. There’s beach and palm trees one spot, then half an hour away there’s mountains and pine trees. Filming out in India which was also pretty incredible.

Who is your role model, and why?

My Dad. He’s always instilled a strong work ethic in me, to care about the work you do, be generous and help others.

What is your biggest motivator?

Having a team of people around me who want to help support each other.

Where’s a place you’ve travelled that you would recommend to anyone?

Croatia, it’s so beautiful, I’ve never seen water so clear and beaches as pristine.

What artist do you have on repeat right now?

Jon Hopkins. He’s just released a new single that I keep listening to and I’m seeing him in a few weeks.

Where would you most like to live?

I’d like to live in New York for a bit but otherwise by the coast. I went to university in Portsmouth and I loved relaxing down by the sea.

What makes you feel like you are living life to the fullest?

I keep a pin-board on the back of my bedroom door with pictures of things I want to accomplish. I move them to the other side when I’ve achieved them, it keeps me focused on my goals and I look at the back when I need motivation.

Which historical figure do you most identify with?

Nikolai Tesla, not that we have anything in common, I just think it’s amazing how ahead of his time he was.

What are your favourite places to visit/eat/drink/spend time on weekends at, in London?

Greenwich has some beautiful sights like the Cutty Sark and the view from the Observatory, there’s also some really unique pubs. Goddards has the best Pie and Chips in the whole of London.

If you could give one piece of advice what would it be?

Always stay as calm as possible when working towards a solution. It’s easier to work and think with a clear head, even when other people try and push their stress onto you. Keep your cool and believe in your own abilities.
