The Best Coffee Shops in Camden to Take 5 (or Take Out)

With four LABS locations situated in NW1, we know a thing or two about where to get a decent cup of coffee in Camden. Whether you’re downing double espressos to fire up flagging energy levels or having a flat white fuelled team meeting at your local café, coffee can play a significant role in the day-to-day functioning of a business. Scoping out your locale to track down the best macchiato is important reconnaissance work. Luckily, we’ve done the hard yards for you.

The Coffee Jar

Opened in 2013, the Coffee Jar became a firm local favourite in no time at all and now stands as something of a Camden institution. It’s easy to see why this little charmer enjoys such a strong reputation, like most of our picks, it’s small, welcoming and clearly run by people who really care about coffee and the environment it’s served in.

The Little One

This petite Primrose Hill coffee shop lives up to its name, so don’t turn up expecting to get a seat – there’s only room for a couple. But what it lacks in size it more than makes up for in top-notch coffee and tasty treats (the crepes are particularly good). Apparently, the Little One team boast their very own Roastery in London Colney and aim to maintain the quality of their unique blend by changing beans every 3 months. Whatever they’re doing it seems to work.

The Fields Beneath Camden

Building on the success of the original Kentish Town branch, the ethically driven team behind The Fields Beneath have recently added a Camden Town outpost on Pratt Street. Like the original, it’s a tiny but welcoming space stuffed with delicious vegan goodies (check out the vegan croissants). They also take their coffee very seriously.

Highstone Brew

Another little gem of a coffee shop, Highstone Brew is a pretty, unpretentious sanctuary on Camden Road. Friendly staff and chill vibes are accompanied by consistently excellent coffee and a tempting choice of vegan-friendly treats. What more could you want?

Camden Coffee House

You’ll find Camden Coffee House branches across London these days, so the original geographically accurate outpost on Camden Road has clearly been doing something right. Such empire-building success is born of a genuine commitment to quality coffee. Camden Coffee House got ahead by sourcing high-quality coffee beans (courtesy of Hasbean), prioritising freshness and using the best equipment to extract maximum flavour.

Pamban

Our last pick is a bit of a curve ball. Pamban offers a fresh spin on the familiar coffee shop formula by transporting it to the Indian subcontinent. As far as we’re aware, Panban is London’s first chai house and offers up a tempting choice of creative chai concoctions involving everything from fudge to saffron. It earns a place on our espresso-centric list because it backs up its extensive chai offering with top-notch coffee that’s carefully sourced and expertly prepared.
