According to a 2022 survey from Drinkaware, 86% of private-sector employees noted that drinking was expected at work events. Yet, a growing number of people are now questioning this norm, particularly as the younger “Gen Z” generation enter the workplace, offering new perspectives on authenticity, inclusivity, and unique experiences.
At LABS, we know the importance of offering alternatives to our members. That’s why we’ve curated a programme of events which embrace alcohol-free social gatherings, from weekly yoga and Reiki to craft and creative workshops. Here are a few of our upcoming events to get you in the holiday spirit without the spirits!
1. Unwind with calligraphy
LABS 90 High Holborn, coworking space in Holborn, will be the first of our sober-friendly events with a relaxing calligraphy class. Ink & Flow, founded by calligrapher and lettering artist Kirstie Bird, will give LABS members the opportunity to create beautiful handmade Christmas cards to share with friends, family and colleagues alike.

2. Get creative using molten metal
Looking for something a bit different to hang on your tree this season? Impress your friends by making your very own decorative piece using the art of pewter molding.
The expert team will guide the class, helping you carve out your unique design and see your decoration come to life as you pour in the fast-setting liquid metal, before finishing your piece with a buff and polish.

3. Hands-on candle making
Love candles but never quite get the aromas you are looking for? Join the Rubino Wilson team for a beginner’s class on creating the perfectly scented blend. Whether you’re looking for something to fill a stocking or treating yourself to a gift, this class is perfect for those open to learning new skills.

4. Craft your very own wreath
Time to update your home decor? Design your very own beautiful, handcrafted wreath using fresh, seasonal greenery and festive embellishments. Perfect for adding some festive foliage to your home.

5. Looking for a party without the hangover?
Taking place in the stunning Sky Lounge at LABS flagship location, LABS House, Festive AF promises an evening of zero-proof cocktails crafted by expert mixologists, live music, canapés, and inspiring talks, all in a sophisticated setting; the perfect way to unwind for the Christmas break.
We’ve even partnered with leaders in the alcohol-free movement, ClubSoda, Della Vite Zero Prosecco and Sober & Social to curate an evening for everyone to enjoy. The event will feature a welcome from Emily Syphas, founder of Sober & Social, who will share her insights on navigating social settings without alcohol. Joining her will be Laura Willoughby MBE, founder of Club Soda, the UK’s foremost expert in low and no-alcohol drinks and a driving force behind the mindful drinking movement. Together, these elements a set to make a festive evening where everyone can enjoy the season without the booze.
